With Independence Day just around the corner, many hosts and hostesses find themselves needing a little extra something to make their 4th of July party stand out. Patriotic music, summertime entertainment, and food and decor in red, white, and blue have probably already been arranged. However, items that give guests fond memories of the day are often left until the last minute.

Plastic Cocktail Shakers are fun and inexpensive. They make perfect favors for adult guests. Furthermore, they are items that can be used again and again. Purchase in red or blue and fill with swizzle sticks. For a fun touch, add a jar of olives with a note that reads, “‘Olive’ having you at my party!”
Not everyone realizes how easy it is to personalize plastic drinkware. Simply print any image you desire onto decal paper. You can find many free patriotic images online or you can make your own. Spray well with clear acrylic. Cut out the image and soak well in water for about one minute. Place the image onto your drinkware and carefully remove the backing. Pat dry with a clean towel and repeat.
There are many options for favors if you would rather give your guests edible treats. A fun idea is to fill a clear tumbler about 3/4 full with alternating layers of red and white chocolate coated candies. Once you reach the 3/4 point, fill half of the cup vertically with candy that is wrapped in blue. Keeping the candy stacked so that it doesn’t spill to the other side, resume stacking the red and white pieces. For a healthier option, you can use bananas, strawberries, and blueberries. Just remember to keep your fruity flag favors on ice.
